Roop Farm
1950. The Roop girls, Patricia and the younger Shirley clean the cows for the W. Roger Roop dairy farm in Union Bridge. The two sisters would commonly compete to see who their father thought did the best job!
Sisters Patricia and Shirley pictured center. After WWII, The W. Roger and Olive V. Roop dairy farm became the center of the HEIFER PROJECT, created by the Church of the Brethren to help farms after the war. Heifers would be sent to the farm from all over the country, then shipped to war-torn countries from Baltimore.
